"How can outreach and education experiences in varied contexts nourish global collective action?"

Panelists:

Alain Pavé, Emeritus Professor at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1

Dr. Andrew F. Skypor, Manager Education Programs at Argonne National Laboratory

The workshop will consider several facets of international science outreach and education programming on scientific issues at the global scale, such as: climate change, viral diseases, or natural resources management. Particular attention will be given to the educational challenges present in intercultural communication and in society-wide coordinated action. The workshop will have a free-flowing format, similar to a scientific café that will take place in three acts. During each phase, a French partner and an American partner will briefly present on their institution’s programming or on experience that is pertinent to the question of that phase. An open dialogue will follow this with the participants and the panelists. Audience participation will be facilitated by the use of a real-time wireless response system. The workshop discussions will be mediated by Dr. Gerald P. Niccolai (CNRS) and Dr. Françoise Morel-Deville (INRA).
